The discrimination between men and women has been happening. Here are some of the main reasons:
Education
Historically, women often did not have the opportunity to study, they may not finish studying high school, college, or even going to school. People think that women are less patient, and smart than men when studying.
Roles of women in the family
After women married and had a child, women often spent more time for caring and educating children. There was no time for working and getting a promotion. It makes a big in the pay gap which occurred in many years ago.
Customary
In some areas, the explanation for the customary that women do have not to go to school, people think women must at home and spend time caring for their families. Women do jobs related to meticulous jobs and frequently they don't want to change too much in their careers.
There are many reasons why women are paid less nowadays. I think education is not the only way, but it is the most feasible approach for standing up and fighting for discrimination. Outdated thinking and customs prevent women from having access to education.
